Ants are one of the most common pests on the Gold Coast, and they are at their busiest after summer storms. Heavy rain floods their nests in lawns and garden beds, and whole colonies move to drier ground, which is often inside the walls, under the slab or behind kitchen cupboards. Coastal brown ants, black house ants and tiny sugar ants are the ones most people see, and some colonies set up in power boxes and pot plants.
Spraying a trail only deals with the ants you can see. The crew we book traces the trail back towards the nest and treats the colony itself. They use slow-acting baits that worker ants carry home to share, along with a treatment around the outside of the house where trails come in through weep holes, slab joints and window frames.

After the visit, let the ants feed on the bait. You may see more ants for a day or two while they carry it back, which is a good sign. Wiping or spraying the trail slows things down. Keep food sealed, rinse drink cans before binning them, and stand pet bowls in a shallow dish of water so ants cannot reach the food.
